As my track of the week was from Boards of Canada I thought it would be perfect to add their new track to my blog. As I have waxed lyrical about them in my previous post I will keep this one short.
This is their first release from one of my most eagerly anticipated albums Tomorrows Harvest. The 5th of June can’t come soon enough:
It’s been a while since any of my own music has been put up on the site. As mentioned in previous posts I have been working towards an album to release online.
However things have taken longer than expected. My initial idea was to have the album released by my birthday last weekend. This dream has been hampered by my success in other areas, work has increased over ten fold since the start of this albums creation and my days of free time a week have been shortened into hours making everything slow down to a crawl.
The album is coming along though and most of the tracks are now recorded in one form or another but it still needs a lot of work. I felt guilty about not having something to show on my birthday and that’s where A4 came in.
Over the past few months I have been working on this track as a way to relax and clear my mind from the more electronic orientated album. It’s taken some time as all the instruments have been played and recorded by myself along with the creation of the animated video. What started as a small lofi guitar line grew into something far more than I originally envisioned and overall im happy with the result.
I hope this gives you guys an idea of where I’m going with my new music and hope I can get the album finished as soon as possible. In the mean time I will continue to post my TOTW and add a few more blog posts to the site.
Please let me know what you think of the track In the comments section below. Try to watch it in HD as the animation looses something in lower resolutions. It also contains flashing Images wich could be a problem for some:
I know its been a while on my music front, things have been quiet and relatively slow. The new job is taking up large chunks of time and working on music has slowed down quite drastically.
I have mentioned several times on my twitter feed that some new music would come out soon, but that didn’t materialise quite as planned. This track has been in a recorded state for about two months. The problem I was having was the process of mixing down and mastering the track, something that has taken time. I have bounced it down to CD and listened to it in a collection of places several times, to see if I got it right. Each time I found a new problem with the track which made me go back to the studio and work on it some more.
I finally feel like it’s together in a way that I’m comfortable with and I hope you can get something from it.
I have been a fan of Soil and “Pimp” Sessions since I saw them on Jules Holland 4 years ago, There fast paced jazz mixed with colourful and lively stage persona’s make them a joy to watch live and this Video does a pretty good job of summing it up:
I Have been a huge fan of the Flaming Lips since Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots came out. Listening to their whole back catalogue they have always done a collection of weird and wonderful music, The track Feeling Yourself disintegrate comes from their album the Soft Bulletin and is a great song for lazy summer days with a cold beer:
The death of Levon Helm last month made me go and listen to the band again, The live performance of the night they drove old Dixie down from the last waltz is one of the best recorded on Film and now its available In HD on Youtube to watch at your pleasure link below:
The Track of the Week goes to Undertow by the fantastic band Warpaint.
Warpaint have released a fantastic EP and Album both well worth a listen. What really stands out for me is the fantastic drumming that’s heard throughout and Undertow is a perfect example. Have a listen below:
